Storage With Style - Hollo Printed Customizable Decorative Cabinet Options.

Hollo is a storage unit which simply becomes a ‘blank piece of paper’ for international designers and artists who can have fun in transforming it with their own original graphics.

The young Treviso, Italy-based company Homecode puts a twist on traditional design with this latest project. White, glossy ready to assemble storage pieces with customizable internal configurations can be decorated with printed graphics, street art, photography, illustrations, textures or words on their front facing doors.

The basic solid cabinets feature removable modular front doors that come in a wide variety of designs. Simply pop them off their hinges with a handful of screws, and use the piece of furniture as a blank canvas to change the mood of a room.

The customizable patterns come from an elite roster of international artists and designers including Studio Job, Joe Velluto, Anna Ter Haar, Luca Trevisani, Paul Flannery, Sovrappensiero, Julie Joliat, Matteo Cibic and more, all coordinated by art director Andrea Magnani. Their contributions elevate the level of design in a functional cabinet without the added price. Calling itself "the T-shirt of furnishings," Hollo blends irony and style with easy-to-change convenience and affordability, not to mention the work of an actual T-shirt designer. In addition to graphic artists and illustrators, Hollo has worked with Abiscuit Accident on graphics applied to both furniture and shirts.

In their webshop you can choose from a broad range of constantly developed digital designs on the four front doors that ‘dress up’ Hollo for any occasion and any home. The ‘dressing up’ logic in fact defines the revolutionary features of Hollo. Therefore, even after you have purchased the unit you can completely change it with a new design by simply replacing the four front doors, which are also sold separately.

Made entirely in Italy, Hollo ships flat-packed to reduce waste during transit. Choose from the ever-growing range of designs at Hollo's e-shop, where cabinets are available for €389 and sets of replacement doors for €199.

Most products shown are the Full Cabinet, but a plasma tv stand, a wardrobe cabinet and other pieces are available.

Handles and hinges included. The hinge is adjustable in height, depth and width. This furniture must be secured to the wall with the enclosed anti-topple device. For increased stability, re-tighten the screws about two weeks after assembly. Different wall materials require different types of fasteners. Use fasteners suitable for the walls in your home (not included).

After you have bought Hollo you can change the design by simply purchasing and replacing only the four front doors. This sustainable option lets you renew the interior of your home in just a few minutes.

The HotTug. A Motorized Floating Wood-Fired Hot Tub!

The HotTug is the first wood-fired hot tub boat in the world and you can put it right at the top of my wish list.

Seating 6 people comfortably (8 peeps if you're really close friends), the wood-fired hot tub is an extremely stable boat that is available in two versions: With an integrated electric motor of 2.4 KW you can cruise around for about 2.5 or 8 hours depending on your version. With an outboard engine it depends on how much gas (petrol) you can carry.

The boat is constructed from wood and fitted with glass fiber reinforced polyester (size 230 x 380 x 110 cm). It can be sailed with or without water, has a stainless steel stove with a double-walled pipe and is powered by a nice and quiet built-in electric motor. A ‘folding pipe’ is available for HotTugs that sail through landscape with low bridges (50 cm / 20 inches clearance).

The HotTug contains about 1800 litres of water and takes about 2.5 hours to heat with the wood-burning stove in front of the boat. The warms warms to 38° Celsius or 100° Farenheit. Emptying the Hot Tug is done with an electric submersible pump in just about 20 minutes.

Details:

The standard color is black, but the Hot Tug is available in any RAL and NCS colour.

The Designer
The HotTug is a design by Supergoed: as simple as it is ingenious. Supergoed is owned by Frank de Bruijn, who works on a barge in the port of Rotterdam. Frank has a soft spot for places where the natural and cultivated go hand in hand. His love of freedom, campfires, open water swimming and meals in the open air is expressed in many of his designs.  “The feel of the outdoors is very important to me,” says De Bruijn. “Now the HotTug is expanding my work horizon to the water as well.”

Frank de Bruyn: “It’s much more than a boat, it’s a vessel with different options. When the tug is filled, there is only a narrow rim between you and the water, making you feel at one with your surroundings.” Frank’s long experience of wood stoves while living and working on his own barge helped him to develop a wood-burning underwater stove. This is what heats the 2000 litres of water in the HotTug to a pleasant 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees F.) in a few hours.

Ships Worldwide

Pooping Chihuahua Turns Red. The Good Puppy Table Lamp Now Comes In Ferrari Red.

About 10 months ago I introduced you to the defecating dog lamps by UK artist Whathisname.  Now he has created a Ferrari red version of The Good Puppy Table Lamp, a pooping Chihuahua whose turd is actually the on/off switch.

Step on the poo to turn the lamp on or off:

The bow is now magnetic and you can take it off anytime:

The Monster Chair For Moooi by Marcel Wanders

A stylish puffy quilted black synthetic leather chair available with or without a fabulous "monster face" sewn into the back. The chair, originally designed in 2010 for Moooi by designer Marcel Wanders is part of a family of seating from Moooi designed by Wanders and comes in two styles, one with a flared and rounded back:

Or in a simple squared off back (shown without the monster face):

Here you can see both styles in situ in the Andaz Hotel dining room:

The chairs have a steel frame, fire retardant synthetic leather upholstery and have been subjected to an abrasion test of >50.000 rubs.

above: Marcel's sketches for the chair

The Monster chair was joined by the Monster barstools in two heights in 2011 and the Boutique Sofa, but neither appears to be available with the whimsical monster face.

On Wanders own site he shows a Monster Pillow (below), but I believe that was never produced:
