Unusual and Beautiful Area Rugs Combine Art and Faux Cowhide.

Designed by Young & Battaglia with artwork by Chiara Fersini and Chad Wys, these beautiful and unusual hide area rugs are made in England.

"Pastoral" Rug:

In collaboration with American artist Chad Wys for the Classics Revisited Collection.The poetic image of a young boy and his dog is stretched and melted, as if on a piece of parchment from a bygone age. This wistful and romantic piece would not look out of place in either a vintage or contemporary interior, is digitally printed in England on a special fabric backed rubber which is the hand cut in to its final hide shape and is washable.

"Renaissance" Cowhide Rug:

The Renaissance cowhide is unlike any cowhide you have ever seen, it's from a very exotic breed of beast that lives in the fantasy world of designers Young & Battaglia. The piece features a background image created by artist Himitsuhana, overlayed with tufts of fur and hand cut out in a special rubber backed fabric. A fusion between art and utility, this rug will add a beautifully surreal touch to any interior, and unlike real cowhides this one is hypo-allergenic, washable, and will always lay flat.

More Marvelous Monster Skin Rugs!

A few weeks ago I shared with you a wonderful felt monster skin rug by Joshua Ben Longo of Longoland. Now, I've got some furry friends to keep him company created by The Monster Workshop's Stitches and Glue.

Handmade from luxuriously super soft faux fur with a faux suede underneath (making it less hard wearing on surfaces) this rug measures 30" by 40" and the head is delightfully stuffed for a pillow-like effect.

Each rug is carefully hand crafted, with close attention to detail. The facial features are hand painted and treated with a protective seal. Each claw is hand cast with a cushioned paw.

Limited Edition Hemp and Rag Doll Rug By Estudio Campana

Made in a limited edition of 10 pieces, the Circus rug for Nodus Rugs is a wild blend of rag dolls and hemp.

Simultaneously creepy and cool, the modern rug was designed by the Campana Brothers who often use dolls in their work such as this similar chandelier for Venini as part of their Esperança Collection:

and the Multidao Chair they created in 2002:

The hand-knotted rug is crafted in Nepal and is a 200cm irregular circle. The 3cm deep pile is a moss green and the rag dolls are embedded in the area rug as if reclining on a patch of grass.
