New Smaller Modern Saunas With Transparent Glass Fronts By EOOS For Duravit.

The Inipi sauna concept was inspired by the “sweat lodges” of the North American Lakota Indians, whose rituals included heating stones strewn with herbs in a fire. Initially introduced in 2009, this year they've come out with an even smaller one - the Inipi B, perfect for those who don't have enormous bathrooms.

The Inipi Saunas designed by EOOS for Duravit are light and modern and come in different sizes and layouts to fit various sized bathrooms. There is absolutely no feeling of being closed in thanks to the fully glazed front glass which not only gives the Inipi saunas an unusual transparency but also an exceptionally stylish look.

The New Inipi B Sauna


The new Inipi B Super Compact sauna has a footprint of about 120 x 120 cm (the larger variant measures approx. 240 x 120 cm) and offers a comfortable amount of space for one person while also meeting the highest design requirements.




The wooden frame also creates the perfect link to the bathroom and living area. Wood is the connecting element in the bathroom and brings together the ceramic, bathroom furniture, bathtubs, shower trays- and now the sauna - to create a harmonious ensemble. They can be finished in white highgloss, Bleached Oak, Cherry Tree, American Cherry Tree, American Walnut, Ash Olive, Rosewood, Ebony or Macassar .

Inside, the cabin features a minimalist design with a characteristic rear wall with horizontal louvres that, like the floor, sitting and lying decks, are made of light aspen wood.



The Inipi is also available with an attached shower:



Taking up little floor space (only 235 by 117 cm – less than 8 by 4 ft – without the shower), the sauna's design is pure and transparent. Fundamentally, it consists of a wood frame with glass panes front and back. It is the back glass panel that sets the mood, as LEDs turn it into a sheet of light.



What's more, EOOS has eliminated the need for a sauna stove. Water is poured over the hot stones at the push of a button inside the sauna.



The “stone” turns out to be a handy remote control.


A sauna session in the modern variant of the Inipi also starts with a “stone”. In direct reference to the archaic heat source, the smooth object that feels pleasant to the touch quickly reveals itself as a handy remote control. Waterproof and heat-resistant, it is used to control all sauna functions: temperature, air humidity, vaporisation, coloured light and sound can all be set and adjusted from here and, as a particularly practical feature, preferred combinations can be stored as user profiles. As an alternative to the remote control, a second control unit with an identical display is located on the outside of the sauna, concealed behind a flap.

In the Inipi B, the symbol of the stone is found in the control panel, which is used to individually control the sauna temperature, timer for the heater and a digital hour glass.

New Terra Sink Design From Gore Design Co. Who Brought Us The Erosian Sink.

Years ago, I shared the stunning Erosian sink made of eco-friendly concrete by Brandon Gore and Gore Design Company. Since then, I have updated info and images of the Erosian Sink as well as a sneak peek at their newest sink, the Terra Sink.

The Erosian Sink
The Erosion Sink is an original design that Brandon Gore has been creating for many years now and I initially featured it on this blog way back in 2007. It has been heralded in many magazines as well as several books. No two sinks are the same, each is completely unique.






Each Erosion Sink is created by hand and completely custom, in all aspects - the shape of the erosion pattern, location of the drain, size and shape of the slab, color, and so on and so forth. This particular Erosion Sink was a challenge due to the permanently cast-in grid-drain.



This California client wanted to wall mount this sink and did not want any plumbing to show below. Brandon has done this a few times in the past, and says this will probably be the last, logistically he prefers a removable drain.




With this particular sink below, the client wished to cover the drain. Gore Design worked with the architect to design a natural solution, a cast concrete stone, that was integrated into the design. The removable stone floats 1/2” above the surface of the sink allowing water to flow uninterrupted below to the concealed drain.





Now, a peek at their newest design, the Terra Sink:

Go on, Take It Lying Down. The Horizontal Shower With Ambience Tuning Technology.

Dornbracht presents an expansion of their groundbreaking shower technology, Ambiance Tuning Technique, through the addition of a new application: the Horizontal Shower. With the Horizontal Shower, for the first time showering with the Ambiance Tuning Technique can be enjoyed lying down.



The application combines six water bars recessed into a broad shower field above a reclining space, along with an eTOOL as the main operating element.





Just as with vertical shower, the horizontal shower the user can also choose from among a variety of pre-programmed choreographies, offering a range of settings for water temperature, intensity and quantity. The user can decide between Balancing, Energizing or De-Stressing effects.



These pre-programmed choreographies combine temperatures and volumes of water at the different outlet points and enhance your individual bathroom rituals. The outlet points can be combined in various ways within the system architecture. There is a central control element for operation, the eTOOL.

The eTOOL:


The innovative control panel eTOOL is optimally incorporated into the overall appearance thanks to its minimalist design, while at the same time offering the greatest operating comfort. All the basic functions can be immediately accessed by pressing the appropriate button once. A ring of light around the appropriate button provides intuitive feedback when the flow rate and the temperature are changed.

The Marcel Wanders Bathroom Collection for Bisazza Combines Modern & Antique.

Marcel Wanders' new collection of bath furnishings for Bisazza was unveiled at this year's CERSAIE. The collection is typical Marcel Wanders, combining modern whimsy with traditional elegance.



The Soapbath collection of wash basins and bathtub are modern rounded ceramic pieces and the New Antiques collection of tables, mirrors and consoles combine modern materials with antique silhouettes. Chandelier shower heads and architectural taps round out the collection.

"The original concept for the collection came from a fantasy I had of taking a bath in a bar of soap. The ultimate clean! This idea I held for a long time, before Bisazza helped me realize it. Bathing, like clothing, is one of the most personal components of daily life. And interior style, like all style, has become a mode to evaluate the anxieties of contemporary society. The haste and fuss of ordinary life is only getting faster and it is getting increasingly difficult to switch off. People are surrounded by other people all day both physically and digitally and so I was looking for a way to offer a sanctuary from the world.
