Bob, The Sleeping Duvet Dog and Granny - More Trompe L'oeil Bedding From Snurk.

I love Snurk Bedding - as you can tell by the not one, but two previous posts I wrote about their trompe l'oeil bedding.

The Holland-based company designs duvets and pillowcases that are made in Portugal of 100% high quality soft percale cotton. Digitally printed with photographic images that mislead the eye, they are designed to be color-fast, even after multiple washings.

Now, they've added two new designs since my last post on them - 'Bob' and 'Granny', shown below.

BOB
Bob is the best kind of dog. He's cute, cuddly and curled up atop your bed. He doesn't need baths, or treats- or even walks. He'll keep you company morning, noon and night with no worry about fleas.

Bob's photo shoot:

GRANNY
Granny is a digital photographic print of a crocheted cover. Complete with the coziness and homemade look of an afghan hand crafted by your own grandma.

The Snurk designers with Granny:

100% soft cotton
digitally printed, color-fast, even after multiple washings
printed on the front with a white back
not suitable for the dryer
easy-care
produced in an eco-friendly manner
washable at 40°C

Quiltsrÿche. Edgy Quilts By Boo Davis.

above: Cock Rock quilt from Quiltsrÿche

You gotta love a crafter who labels her textile designs with the sign-off "Made With Hate." At least I do. On her own site she describes herself as follows: "Boo Davis is a designer, illustrator and quiltmaker living in Seattle. She spent much of her youth cozied up under her grandmother's quilt listening to Ozzy. As a grown-up metalhead and design geek, the intersection of cute and evil is what she finds most compelling."

This is apparent in her hip quilts. No grandma patchwork for this gal, instead Quiltsrÿche blends rock n' roll imagery, attitude and a smart sense of color and design. Her graphic and edgy quilts are reminiscent of another modern quilter, Denyse Schmidt, only on acid.

Quiltsrÿche uses 100% cotton fabrics, though some of the vintage fabrics are blends. All fabrics are pre-washed. A Quiltsrÿche quilt is made with straightforward linear quilting that is durable and adds, in Boo's words, "that totally killer juxtaposition of handmade and industrial."

Your Quiltsrÿche quilt can live on your bed or on your wall. Request a rod pocket to be sewn on the back if you'd like it to hang. Quilt backs feature three stripes in coordinating or complementary colors. Let Boo know your color preferences for the binding and back of your quilt.

Order your Quiltsrÿche quilt directly from Boo here.

She also has a book available for purchase, Dare to Be Square Quilting: A Block-by-Block Guide to Making Patchwork and Quilts

Move Over Snuggie, We've Got Happiness In Bed

The old saying goes "Cold hands, warm heart" but many of us know there's nothing worse that trying to read in bed when your hands and arms would rather be cozy under the covers. But fret no more, The Sleeved Blanket by designer Andrea Ayala Clos for Happiness Brussels will solve all that.

A duvet cover with built-in sleeves and gloves (which even have the index fingertips removed so one can easily turn pages)

The Sleeved Blanket duvet will soon be available for sale. Sign up on the mailing list to be notified here.

Happiness In Bed, The Sleeved Blanket, is from Happiness Brussels, the same inventive folks who brought us the Toyota font.

More Cool Trompe L'oeil Bedding From Snurk.

above: a portion of the proceeds from Le Clochard and Le Trottoir, the cardboard and pavement photorealistic bedding by Snurk, goes to help the homeless

A ways back, I wrote about some very unique bedding designs by Peggy van Neer and Snurk Bedding, whose proceeds went to support the homeless. The cardboard duvet cover and pillowcases appeared, cleverly, to be made of old cardboard boxes.

Now, they've designed a fun fitted flat sheet, Le Trottoir, that mimics pavement, completing the outdoor trompe l'oeil effect:

Once again, a portion of the proceeds go to help the homeless. Forty percent of the proceeds in the Netherlands are donated to The Foundation for Dutch Homeless Youngsters (SZN). In England, the money goes to Center Point. In Germany the money goes to Off Road Kids, in Denmark to the Udenfor foundation.

You can purchase Le Clochard and Le Trottoir at Snurk bedding or at Dutch by Design.

The White Laundry Series

In addition to the Trottoir, Snurk Bedding has just released their new White Laundry Series. Duvets which appear to have an article of white clothing casually strewn upon them, complete with drop shadow. The five various duvets feature one of each of the following; a robe, a shirt, a bra, a pair of socks or a thong.

The Old School Duvet

Unlike the photorealistic modern bedding, the Old School design is a throwback to Brady Bunch-era Suburbia. The look of a well worn woolen plaid without any of the itching.

Snurk Bedding is made of 100% cotton; percale (200 thread count) and percaline (144 thread count).

(Snurk = Dutch for snoring)
